Great achievements in natural disasters prevention, response, search and rescue missions
PANO – On July 19, Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command held a conference to review the implementation of tasks in response to accidents and natural disasters, search and rescue missions, and forest fire prevention in the first half of this year.
Reportedly, 70 incidents occurred on two borderlines and sea areas belonging to Nghe An province from December 2019 to July 2020. As a result, 15 vehicles were damaged, 13 vehicles were sunk, 5 people were injured, 11 people died, and 1 crew member went missing. Furthermore, tornadoes damaged hundreds of houses, military units and schools.
The Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command sent 9 vehicles and 286 troops to join hands with local authorities and related forces to mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters and maritime accidents. Meanwhile 12 convoys, 45 motorcycles, and 482 troops were mobilized to extinguish local forest fires.
At the conference, attendees discussed and clarified issues such as weather condition evaluation to offer practical methods on disasters control along with search and rescue to minimize human and material losses.
On this occasion, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command awarded certificates of merit to 1 group and 4 individuals who distinguished themselves in performing their missions in response to incidents, natural disaster prevention, and search and rescue.
