The gathering was attended by Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan and Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, along with leaders of Military Region 7, Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, other Ministry of National Defense agencies, and former leaders and officers of the General Staff from various periods.
In his address, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong extended his sincere greetings to the generals and delegates, wishing them and their families good health, happiness, and success. He expressed deep gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, and policy families, as well as the generations of officers who have sacrificed and contributed to the building of the traditions of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong also provided an update on the General Staff's recent achievements. He noted that the General Staff has pro-actively conducted strategic research, accurately assessed situations, and promptly advised the Party, State, Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on handling military and defense situations to ensure the country's political security, stability and social safety.
The General Staff has intensified inspections and directed agencies and units to strictly maintain combat readiness; coordinated with forces to uphold political security, social order, disaster response, and search and rescue operations; and continually improved training quality, achieving high results in numerous exercises. They have also focused on building a capable contingent of officers to deal with new challenges.

The Deputy Defense Minister expressed his hope that the generals and former officers will continue to contribute their expertise to the development of the military and the General Staff, motivating current officers to better perform their duties.
The annual gathering is a significant event aimed at strengthening bonds among generations of officers, fostering pride in the General Staff's historical achievements, and encouraging officers and soldiers to persistently strive for excellence and overcome challenges to fulfill their assigned tasks.
