During the event, naval troops focused on equipping fishermen with contents of the Prime Minister's Directive No.45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017, on urgent tasks and solutions to ease the European Commission’s warning on fighting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; operational results of the ports and fishing villages in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago; the Government’s Decree No.38/ND-CP dated April 5, 2024, on administrative penalties in the fisheries sector, to name but a few.

At the meeting, Flotilla 129 presented 200 national flags, 200 life jackets, and 400 leaflets with information about Directive No.45; the functions and activities of docks and fishing villages in the Truong Sa Archipelago to local fishermen.

Captain Tran Xuan Hoa, Deputy Head of Flotilla 129 said that this was a regular activity co-organized by the unit and the Sub-department of Fisheries of coastal provinces and cities to effectively implement the program themed “the Vietnam People’s Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to reach out to sea,” to improve economic efficiency for fishermen, and sustainably exploit fishery resources.
