At the event, General Dung inquired after and presented gifts to those who had rendered good service to the revolution in the past. Dung also briefed them on “gratitude” activities of military units over the past time. Particularly, the Ministry of National Defense has proactively made recommendations for the Party and State to issue and carry out various policies for troops and their families. Defense agencies and military units have actively conducted “gratitude” activities for those who participated in the anti-French and anti-American wars for national independence and carried out international service. In addition, the whole military paid attention to searching, collecting, and identifying the remains of fallen soldiers.

According to him, in 2020 alone, the whole military has built more than 570 houses, taken care of 1,853 Vietnamese heroic mothers, repaired various projects dedicated to fallen soldiers, presented dozens of savings books, provided free health check-ups and medicines to over 46,100 people, and gave financial assistance to convalescent centers and associations for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims. 

On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs thanked the Defense Ministry for the warm reception and delivered a brief report on the province’s socio-economic development situation and its gratitude activities over the past time. He added that the provincial Party Organization, authorities, troops, and people have overcome all challenges to obtain important achievements in various fields, including care for national contributors.
