In a conversation with the leadership of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau stated that in recent years, the Vietnam People's Army has effectively implemented action programs and patriotic emulation movements, especially those initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

In 2023, the Ministry of National Defense directly supported the construction of over 2,000 gratitude houses for needy households, with a total funding of over VND 120 billion. Units across the military also contributed to building more than 1,040 houses for people in border areas, ethnic communities, religious facilities, and more, totaling over VND 110 billion VND. They also financed localities in constructing 24 civil projects, with an investment of nearly VND 50 billion. Moreover, they donated to the "For the Poor" Fund of various localities, provided livelihood support, and presented gifts to over 2,000 needy households facing extremely difficult circumstances, worth a total of VND 12 billion.

The General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People's Army launched a program to build 2,000 gratitude houses for disadvantaged troops, and needy households. This program will be implemented in 63 provinces and cities from October 2023 to December 2024, with a total budget of over VND 124 billion.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau emphasized that in the coming time, the Ministry of National Defense hopes to continue receiving coordination and support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to successfully fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, and the people. He hoped that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee  will continue to provide special mechanisms to enable the military to participate in activities aimed at assisting the poor.
