The military to organize more practical activities for the poor
PANO - The Ministry of National Defense (MND) held a meeting in Hanoi yesterday to review the operation of the “For the Poor” Fund of the military this year.
Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and Head of the MND Fund-raising Board Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong presided over the meeting.
This year, the fund-raising boards, Party committees, and leaders of defense agencies and military units at all levels directed their affiliates to seriously implement higher levels’ instructions on engagement in the national goal on sustainable poverty reduction, new-style rural building, and action month for the poor launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in an effective manner.
Attentively, troops raised their awareness and responsibilities to actively participate in various activities for the poor. The defense agencies and military units effectively managed and used the fund to support their needy troops, defense workers, and poor people.
At the meeting, the MND Fund-raising Board pointed out shortcomings in raising, managing, and using the fund at all levels and discussed measures to better carry out the work.
Concluding the event, General Phuong asked the board to improve the efficiency of the management and use of the “For the Poor” Fund.
He urged relevant forces to call for more support for the poor and brighten the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the people’s hearts.
