The unit has closely coordinated with local party committees and authorities to carry out various farming models developed based on the local actual conditions and locals' situations. Thanks to practical and effective models, which are carried out to actualize the national target program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2030 period, communes in the defense-economic zone have witnessed positive changes with well-equipped schools, medical establishments, residential houses, and concreted road systems.

The above-mentioned outcomes attribute to the concern of the Party and State through Program 1719 and joint efforts of agencies, sectors, benefactors, and especially Defense-Economic Unit 92’s personnel.

Defense-Economic Unit 92’s officers and staff help people in Lam Dot commune construct a rural road.

Thanks to the efforts, all households now have access to electricity and clean water; the poverty rate has significantly decreased; all school-aged children go to school; inter-village and inter-commune road systems, schools, cultural houses, and medical establishments have been upgraded; the living standards of local people have been continuously improved.

as reported, four communes in the A So - A Luoi Defense-Economic Zone are difficult border localities with sparse population and predominantly inhabited by ethnic minority groups such as Ta Oi, Co Tu, and Pa Co. Together with slow economic development, outdated customs and practices, and high poverty rate, many areas in the commune are still affected by legacy of Agent Orange/dioxin.

Learning about the situations, Defense-Economic Unit 92 has come up with various plans to help locals improve their living standards. The unit has focused on strengthening the relationship with local party committees, authorities, and people; building political system at grassroots level; joining new-style rural area building.

Of the models developed by Defense-Economic Unit 92, the program of presenting seedlings and breeding animals to locals has proved its effectiveness. Hundreds of households in the zone have benefited from the program and escaped poverty.

In addition, Defense-Economic Unit 92 has mobilized its personnel to assist locals in repairing houses, building roads, dredging irrigation canals; organized health examination programs; held free literacy classes for students.

According to Political Commissar of Defense-Economic Unit 92 Senior Colonel Luu Duc Chinh, in 2023, the unit handed over 160 crossbred cows, 33 buffaloes, and other materials to 193 households. Through the “Military soldiers paving the way to school for children," project, the unit has allocated VND 197 million to support 20 students. In addition, it called on benefactors to donate 412 gift packages, worth VND 206 million, to local people and over VND 40 million to A Luoi district’s poverty reduction fund.

Thanks to the support of Defense-Economic Unit 92, the living standards of people in the four communes in A So - A Luoi Defense-Economic Zone have been significantly improved, and political security and order has been firmly maintained, contributing to building the strong whole people’s defense, firm whole people’s defense posture coupled with the people’s security posture in border areas.
