Coast guards support fishermen on Bach Long Vi Island
PANO – A mission from Coast Guard Region 1, led by its Deputy-Commander Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Tu, started a visit to extend New Year wishes to the leadership and people on Bach Long Vi Island.
The visit is part of the regular program, “Coast guards support fishermen”, to inquire after and encourage those on Bach Long Vi Island to have a happy and cozy Tet (Lunar New Year Festival).

During the visit from January 22 to 24, the mission will hold cultural exchanges, provide free health check-ups and medicines, visit and present Tet gifts to units and policy beneficiaries on the island. They will also equip fishermen with methods to ensure maritime safety, help them embrace maritime laws and provide them with chung cake (square traditional Vietnamese rice cake) and life jackets.
On the first day of the visit, a cultural exchange was held to raise troops’ and people’s awareness and responsibilities for protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands, security and safety at sea.
At the event, the mission handed over gifts to policy beneficiaries and needy students with good academic record.
