The event was attended by Deputy Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2 Senior Colonel Bui Dai Hai, Standing Deputy Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee Mai Thi Thu, and representatives of 120 fishing families in Da Nang city.
The program was to raise local people and fishermen’s awareness of sea and islands and the prevention and combat of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. It helped participants know more about activities of the Vietnam Coast Guard, thus raising public responsibility for protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands. At the same time, activities within the program also contributed to local Party Committee and government’s efforts in carrying out activities for people, especially needy fishermen.
According to Senior Colonel Bui Dai Hai, over the past years, together with successfully fulfilling political missions, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command has actively and proactively worked with local Party Committee and authorities in general and the city’s Mass Mobilization Committee in particular to conduct various activities to support fishermen to fish at sea.
At the event, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presented 120 gifts, 80 scholarship, and 32 bicycles to policy beneficiaries, needy fishermen, and children with good academic results.
