The outcomes have contributed to enhancing locals’ trust in the Party and State, and building the firm people’s heart posture and synergy, protecting the national sovereignty and border security.

Trust in border troops

In Cao Son Thuong hamlet, Po Lo commune, Hoang Su Phi district, Mr. Then Sao Chan, a local resident, held that thanks to the support of the border troops, he knew how to develop economy via production promotion. So far, his family has expanded farming areas to earn more money.

In addition to assisting local residents in developing economy and reducing poverty, over the past years, Thang Tin Border Post in Ha Giang province has also promptly implemented dissemination work to mobilize the locals to obey the State’s laws.

Political Commissar of the post Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Khac Thuan held that the unit is tasked with managing more than 20km of borderline with the three border communes of Thang Tin, Po Lo, and Then Chu Phi, which are home to mostly Nung ethnic minority people. Therefore, over the past time, the unit has boosted dissemination work on preventing crimes, while closely working with the local authorities to address any cases related to local political security. Besides, the unit has also mobilized ethnic minority people to eliminate backward customs and defeat all plots of hostile forces. Hence, the border people always trust the Party, State, and actively join hands with the border troops to build and firmly protect national sovereignty and border security.

Mr. Ly Mi Po’s family from Ma Xi B hamlet, Ma Le commune, Dong Van district was one of the typical households to receive the support from the border troops. Accordingly, they were instructed on how to promote production. He held that previously, he planted Pennisetum purpureum which did not bring much benefit. Thanks to the support of the local authorities and border troops, he shifted to the model of planting Chinese plum trees, bringing high benefit to his family.

Mr. Ly Mi Na, Chairman of the Ma Le commune noted that much abandoned land in the area has been cultivated to plant trees and fruits which are suitable to the local weather conditions. The models raised by the border troops have benefited many households and helped them stabilize their lives.

Standing side by side with border people

According to Lieutenant Cheo Ton Chieu, Head of the Drug and Crime Prevention Team of Xin Cai Border Post, the unit has organized a program to disseminate information about drug to the local residents via meaningful stories.

The border post, in coordination with the local authorities, holds dissemination program weekly and monthly so as to raise public awareness of the bad effects of drug towards the society. They have also been provided with information about the Vietnam Border Guard Law, Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens, among others. Therefore, the number of law violation cases in the areas has gone down considerably.

Mr. Sung Ba La, a local resident in Thuong Phung commune, Meo Vac district shared that via the dissemination program of the border troops, his family was well aware of their responsibility in managing the national sovereignty in border areas, and committed themselves to protect the national borderline and landmarks.

The practical activities of troops of the Ha Giang provincial Border Guard Command have enhanced people’s trust, while creating favorable conditions for the ethnic people to develop economy and raise their living standards, thereby firmly protecting the national sovereignty and border security.
