The event was chaired by General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, and attended by Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister General Nguyen Tan Cuong, and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau.

Speaking at the event, GDP’s Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To highlighted the close coordination between the military and media organizations in promoting military and defense affairs. He noted that central, local, and military media organizations had provided extensive and accurate coverage of key conferences of the CMC and MND, military modernization efforts, restructuring of local military agencies, training and combat readiness activities, education and recruitment programs, civil-military relations, exercises, competitions, and other major events.

The coverage, he said, helped highlight the military’s contributions to national development and defense while reflecting the strong support and affection of the Vietnamese people and international friends toward the armed forces.

Representatives of media organizations thanked the CMC and MND for providing timely and accurate information and facilitating press access, enabling news outlets to improve the quality of reporting on military and defense issues. They also expressed a desire for closer cooperation in information sharing, media guidance, and public communications on matters related to national defense and military development.

Speaking at the meeting, General Nguyen Trong Nghia thanked the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and central and local media organizations for their continued support of the military.

He emphasized that 2026 is a particularly important year for implementing the resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress and the 12th Military Party Congress, as well as key directives from Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, who also serves as Secretary of the CMC. He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to researching and producing advanced weapons and equipment, building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modernized armed force, and successfully carrying out all assigned missions.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia called on central agencies, ministries, and media organizations to continue working closely with the MND and military units to strengthen communications on military and defense affairs, improve information coordination and guidance, and contribute to the mission of safeguarding and building the nation.
