Over the past years, various effective and creative models have been carried out in the whole force, contributing to enriching the qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in border areas, on islands, and at sea and proving their role as a firm fulcrum for people in border areas.

According to Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, under the leadership and direction of the Border Guard’s Party Committee, agencies and units have carried out the “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle” movement comprehensively and in all aspects. They have also organized activities to share experience in task performance and in life. 

Together with building a contingent of officers with firm political stance and professional competence, the Vietnam Border Guard Command has paid attention to enhancing the strength of the force by procuring modern equipment and vehicles.

Considering building firm political bases in border areas an important mission, agencies and units in the whole force have seconded border guard officers to border districts and border communes’ party committees and appointed officers to key positions in communes, wards, and townlets’ leadership. Notably, party members of border guard units and agencies have been assigned to assisting ten of thousands of families in border areas.

These models and initiatives have helped bring the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and law to each hamlet and household, build firm political bases, maintain security and public order, and make sustainable changes in border areas.

In addition to that, border guard units have collaborated with localities and other units to open more than 500 literacy classes, provide books and school supplies to nearly 12,000 students of all ages and backgrounds. Annually, as part of the "Paving the way to school for children – Border posts’ foster children" program, border guard units have provided assistance for nearly 3,000 students, including nearly 200 students from Laos and Cambodia; worked with local authorities to adopt 354 orphans and children in difficult circumstances.

Highlighting the significance of above-mentioned program, Gen. Tuan said that the deed demonstrated the noble qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period as well as border guards’ sentiment and gratitude to ethnic minority people in border areas and on islands. The practical program has turned needy students’ dreams of going to school into reality. From 2021 to 2023, 186 students benefiting from the program passed university and college entrance exams.

Considering taking care of the health of the people in border areas and on islands their responsibility and sentiment, over the past three years, border guard units have provided free health examination and medicines for more than 300,000 people in border areas within the force’s healthcare program. Through the “accompanying women in border areas” program, border guard agencies and units have mobilized VND 300 billion to support women in 210 difficult border communes.

Notably, many socio-economic development models have been launched and effectively implemented by border guard units, helping improve locals’ living standards and building a firm people’s heart posture and strong whole people’s border guard posture.

The political commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command said that the above-mentioned activities have shown the border guards’ political responsibility and their deep love for President Ho Chi Minh. Programs and initiatives have helped border guard troops to successfully fulfill assigned missions, thus enriching the qualities and tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period.
