Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister and head of the board, chaired the event.

At the conference, delegates affirmed that in the first six months of this year the women advancement and gender equality work in the military has been comprehensively carried out and obtained practical results. Notably, the building and development of female officials have been paid due attention to by party committees, political commissars, officers, commanding officers, and political agencies at all levels. 

Women in the military have continued to prove their important role and made practical contribution to U.N. peacekeeping operations. They have also fulfilled targets in economic field, family building, healthcare, education, training, and science research, contributing to making positive changes in the women advancement and gender equality work in the military.

An overview of the conference

Concluding the meeting, Gen. Vinh asked the board to continue to grasp and effectively implement the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and law, and resolutions and directives of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on the work.

He also urged the board to foster dissemination of the women advancement and gender equality work in the military, pay attention to selecting and training female officials, and make recommendations to higher levels to issue policies to improve living quality of female officers, staff, troops, and workers in the military.
