PANO - The second sea patrol plane landed safely on the airport of Air Regiment 918 of the Air Defence and Air Force at 11.35 a.m on January 26th, despite the bad weather.
The plan named CASA-212-400 belongs to the Vietnam Maritime Police Force.
According to Commander of the Air Regiment, Senior Colonel Le Kiem Toan, the plane has outstanding functions and can fly 7 hours in the sea.
In August 2012, the Vietnam Maritime Police Force received the first CASA-212-400.
After the landing, technical specialists started to check the whole plane.
According to leaders of the Vietnam Maritime Police Force, the Spanish partner will send an expert team to Vietnam after the lunar New Year festival to provide additional training for Vietnamese pilots.
The CASA-212-400 is a multifunctional military plane of the fourth generation with modern technical equipment under the European standards. It can fly at a speed of 360km per hour and operate in 7 hours in bad weather conditions. It is mainly used to patrol at the sea, perform reconnaissance tasks, and detect submarines and warships from distance.
Equipped with the two planes, the Vietnam Maritime Police Force will firmly protect national sovereignty over the Fatherland’s seas and islands, said senior officers.
