It was part of the trip to express gratitude to martyrs who fought against enemies to protect the Quang Tri ancient citadel and in celebration of 45 years since Regiment 18 opened fire to take back Dien Huong and Dien Mon of Quang Tri and 45th anniversary of 81 days and nights fighting to defend Quang Tri town and Quang Tri ancient citadel.

According to veteran Senior Colonel Vu Hoang Hoa, Head of Regiment 18’s veterans’ liaison board, the board offered incenses at Hai Phu commune War Cemetery, Hai Phu and Hai Duc pagodas where martyrs are being worshiped, statue of Quang Tri ancient citadel; released flower garlands and lanterns at the wharf of the Thach Han River and recalled glorious tradition of Regiment 18 during the Fatherland protection cause.

Earlier, Regiment 18’s veterans raised VND 550 million to upgrade Hai Phu commune War Cemetery and hundreds of millions of VND to repair, build houses and present gifts to needy policy families and the board’s members.
