At the meeting of the Party Committee of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP)’s Organs, chaired by the GDP Director General Luong Cuong, the committee agreed to focus its leadership in 2024 on performance of research, forecast and advisory work. It will make proposals to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to give recommendations to the Party and State to issue policies on building a politically-strong military, meeting the task requirements in the new situation, building a politically-, ideologically-, morally-, organizationally-strong Military Party Organization, contributing to upholding and enhancing the Party’s absolute and direct leadership over the military.

In 2024, the Party committee of the GDP’s Organs will direct the organization of celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People’s Defense Festival, and the 80th founding anniversary of the GDP. Its leadership will also be focused on the administrative reform, building of e-government, digital transformation, and building of exemplary, typical, comprehensively-strong GDP’s Organs and healthy and strong party committees at all levels.
Regarding major tasks in the first quarter of next year, Gen. Luong Cuong asked for the review of “Determined-to-Win” emulation movements in 2023, dissemination of information about the 94th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and organization of a cozy, safe, economic lunar New Year for troops, and ensuring policies for discharged soldiers.
* Addressing the meeting of the Party Committee of the General Staff-Ministry of National Defense’s Organ, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense, praised the committee for their leadership achievements in 2023 despites many difficulties.
He asked the committee to continue directing its affiliates to do research, make accurate forecast of situations, and make suggestions to higher levels to firmly defending the national territorial sovereignty. It should also lead the implementation of projects, resolutions, conclusions, and others on military and defense and the strict observance of combat readiness duties, as well as readiness of forces and vehicles in response to non-traditional challenges, among others.
* Present at the meeting of the Party Committee of the General Department of Logistics (GDL), Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San requested the GDL Party committee and chain-of-command to continue to well perform their staff role, direct the supply of logistic services for combat readiness missions, training, exercises, disaster prevention and control, search and rescue operations and safeguarding of national sovereignty over the sea and islands. The GDL should further study to produce more products, including specialized fuel and other military products.
* Applauding the Party Committee of the General Department of Technical Services (GDT) for its good leadership guidelines and solutions in 2023, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh urged it to keep giving strategic recommendations on ensuring technical services to build an elite, compact and strong military while ensuring weapons and equipment for units to carry out their duties.
The general department was requested to further apply scientific and technological advances to exploiting, and repairing weapons and equipment.
Regarding the merger of the General Departments of Technical Services and Logistics, Gen. Vinh asked the GDT to pro-actively carry out the plan, and soon consolidate organization to perform new tasks.
