Recently, the Border Guard Vocational School No.24 sent cadets and service dogs to perform their internship in the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command’s affiliated posts. This was the first course giving chance to the participants to practice search and rescue missions in border areas. The team in Muong Pon Border Post has ten people, including one instructor, one team leader, one medical staff, seven cadets, together with seven service dogs.

According to Major Nguyen Van Nghia, Head of the Search and Rescue Division of the Border Guard Vocational School No.24, who is also the instructor of the team, right after the team arrived in Dien Bien province, Muong Pon Border Post created favorable conditions for them to perform their assigned tasks.

On the occasion, the team focused on search and rescue training in the context that landslides, rocks, collapsed construction happening in the border areas where Muong Pon Border Post is stationed. After three months of internship, the team participated in joint patrol with border troops of Muong Pon Border Post among the shared borderline, contributing to protecting the national sovereignty over border areas, while helping locals develop economy and prevent forest fire, among others.

The landslide area is located about 5km from Muong Pon Border Post. Due to the complicated terrain, the team conducted both training and long-distance march to increase troops and service dogs’ endurance.
