According to Commander of Army Corps 16 Major General Pham Ba Hien, the unit’s defense-economic project area stretches over 125 villages of 24 communes and wards, including 11 border communes, of the three provinces of Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, and Dak Lak. The villages are home to 314,000 people, and 27% of the population are ethnic minority residents. Since the area is complicated and still facing many difficulties, the army corps has over the past years arranged stable housing and created jobs for nearly 5,000 households with 25,000 people, of which 1,717 households are ethnic minority.

In addition, Army Corps 16 has strictly and effectively carried out the mission of fighting crime; preventing human trafficking, trade fraud, and counterfeit; receiving and handling complaints and denunciations; combating corruption. All troops, staff, and workers have strictly observed law and military discipline.

The unit has closely collaborated with other units and local party committees and authorities to conduct models and apply different measures to effectively disseminate the Law on Border, the Traffic Law, and the Law on Crime Prevention. This year, nine education programs have been held by the units for workers and locals in the project area to raise their awareness of observing law, maintaining political security, order, and social safety.

The unit has transparently and effectively carried out 73 bidding packages/12 projects in compliance with regulations, contributing to improving the quality of the unit’s projects.

At the working session, General Luong praised Army Corps 16 for its obtained results and asked the unit to continue to enhance troops and locals’ legal awareness; regularly follow situational development; actively build plan and propose suitable measures; strengthen defense posture; maintain local political security, public order, and safety.
