Concluding the seminar, Deputy Chief of the GDP’s Office Senior Colonel Do Khac Can emphasized the long and important mission of environmental protection. He said that the work has been widely carried out in the military.

Thoroughly grasping the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and law on environmental protection and pro-active response to climate change, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the GDP have over the past time taken creative measures to reduce climate change. Notably, the military has actively handled consequences of post-war UXO and toxic chemicals; prevented environmental pollution and overcome consequences of natural disasters; combated diseases, including the COVID-19 pandemic; invested in building waste treatment projects in defense factories.

Col. Ngan said that on the basis of reports at the seminar, the GDP’s Office would collect and make recommendations to functional agencies to issue guidelines and measures to direct the information dissemination and education to raise troops’ responsibility, activeness, pro-activeness, and creativity to well manage resources, protect the environment, respond to climate change, and overcome current environmental incidents.

On the occasion, the delegation of the GDP’s Office did a survey on the awareness of leaders, commanding officers, cadres, troops, and non-commissioned officers of the provincial border guard command of the mission of environmental protection, pro-active response to climate change, and settlement of environmental incidents.
