PANO - The Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony on January 18th to honour athletes and coaches, who had excellent results at an international sport competition in 2015, in the presence of General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

At the event, General Ty highly praised and congratulated the excellent results that military athletes and coaches have achieved over the past year. Especially in the 28th SEA Games in Singapore, military athletes pocketed 15 gold, 10 silver, and 15 bronze medals and broke 11 records. While the army team bagged four medals at the sixth International Military Sports Council (CISM) Military World Games in the Republic of Korea, ranking 31st among 117 participating countries. The military shooting team ranked 3rd at the 25th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM-25) in Thailand.
On this occasion, General Ty extended his thanks to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training for their contributions to the success of the army's sport. On behalf of the Ministry of National Defence, the general presented 55 certificates of merit to outstanding athletes and coaches at the event.
