In 2023, under the leadership of the Party, State, Government, directly the Central Military Commission (CMC), Ministry of National Defense (MND), the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 4, together with party committees and local authorities of six provinces successfully completed military-defense tasks and Party building work.
Notably, they closely grasped and strictly implemented resolutions, directives, and regulations of the Party, State, CMC, and MND on military-defense tasks while maintaining combat readiness posture and coordinating with other forces to accurately evaluate situational developments and well handle circumstances, thereby ensuring political security and safety in localities.

In his remarks, Sr. Lt. Gen. Pham Hoai Nam spoke highly of MR4’s efforts in its task performance in 2023. Regarding the orientation of task implementation in 2024, the deputy defense minister underlined that the party committee should closely follow the resolutions, strategies, projects and laws on military-defense work, and concretize and determine leadership policies and measures close to the situation and reality of the locality.
Meanwhile, the party committee should pro-actively coordinate with other forces to grasp situations and prepare enough personnel and vehicles for any missions, and make specific plans to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Also, the party committee should focus on raising the synergy and combat strength of the reserve and local forces, the militia and self-defense forces, especially the standing militia force performing missions at sea, on islands and at checkpoints on land border; increasing the quality of training and combat readiness, education and training, and exercise organization; and building a comprehensively strong and exemplary unit, among others.
