General Cuong reiterated that requirement at the Council of Military Science and Social Humanities’ conference on December 6 which reviewed the outcomes of the implementation of military science and social humanities-related activities in the 2011-2015 period and in mapped out missions for the 2016-2020 period.

At the conference, delegates discussed and agreed that the army has well implemented the military science and social humanities-related activities in close attachment to the developments in the country, the region and the world as a whole, to the resolutions and instructions of the Party, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and with a focus on renovating and improving the quality of Party and political work.

Moreover, the Council has promoted its consultative role in making plans relating to scientific theses and programs. Its members have also proactively participated in scientific research activities.

Based on the report of  the work in the 2011-2015 period and opinions at the conference, General Cuong stressed that coming military science and social humanities-related activities should concentrate on making clear viewpoints and guidelines in the resolutions of the 12th National Party Congress and the Party Central Committee, directives of the Politburo and the Secretariat as well as the resolutions of the 10th Military Party Congress; clarifying the mechanism of Party’s leadership and the State’s management towards the cause of building the army, consolidating national defense and protecting the Fatherland, and building the people’s heart and soul disposition, the country’s political potential and a politically-strong people’s army.

Other works to be focused on include boosting the combat against wrongful arguments of hostile forces, preventing “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” as well as the plot of depoliticizing the army, paying due attention to reviewing the reality and developing theories on Party and political work as well as perfecting documents and textbooks relating to military science and social humanities.

General Cuong also asked the units to take full use of their cadres with many years of experience in doing scientific research and the Council to strengthen its consultative role to have more valuable scientific theses, programs, and textbooks and to closely coordinate with other scientific organizations inside and outside the army to boost research on military science and social humanities.
