Military Hospital 108 launches refresher course on using mechanical ventilator
PANO – Military Hospital 108 launched a refresher course on using mechanical ventilators for its medical personnel on April 8. The event is part of the hospital’s preparation for receiving and treating patients of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The six-day course aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the hospital’s medical workers in using the ventilator safely. In particular, the course will teach specialized terms, rules of usage, the functions of all buttons and the basic operational modes of the machine for the hospital’s medical personnel.
The content of the course includes: structures and principles of the mechanical ventilation; its parameters and methods; the mechanical ventilation for ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) patients and the mechanical ventilation for other patients; preparation of the ventilator and the care of patients using the ventilator.
After the theory approach, participants will practice with real patients to have a good understanding of techniques to optimize mechanical ventilation and minimize complications.
Due to the regulations of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention, each course will include no more than 15 participants, each trainee has to wear a facemask and keep a 2 meter distance from other people.
