Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard receives new modern ships
PANO – The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh city held a ceremony to hand over two CN09 ships and 10 high-speed canoes to the city's Border Guard Command on April 28.
The two CN09 ships numbered BP14-19-01 and BP14-19-02, which were built by Son Hai Shipbuilding One Member Limited company under the Vietnam Border Guard Command, are specially designated for search and rescue missions.
Each ship is 30m in length, 6.7m in width, 3.6m in height while its deep waterline is 2m and the maximum water displacement is 160 tons. The ship, made from high tensile steel, is equipped with two engines with their total capacity of 3822 CV, meeting the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for emission.

The ship also has an electro-hydraulic power steering system, a hand control and autopilot system, depth and speed measuring devices, CO2 fire extinguishing systems and an emergency cabin.
It can operate in strong winds of Level 7 or 8 at a maximum speed of 20 nautical miles per hour around the clock. If running at a speed of around 10 nautical miles per hour, it can operate for 10 consecutive days and carry up to 25 rescued persons and tow a 3,000-ton boat.
On this occasion, the HCM City People’s Committee also handed over 10 high-speed canoes to the city’s border guard force serving its specialized duties.
