The GS-hosted competition sees the participation of 16 teams from military regions, army corps, the Hanoi Capital Command, the General Department of Defense Intelligence, Commando Corps, and Army Officers Candidate Schools No.1 and No.2.
The five-day long event aims to evaluate troops’ ability of using equipment and weaponry as well as coordination among them. It is also to help participating units raise the quality of training of snipers for reconnaissance companies under infantry units as well as select the best snipers to compete at the International Army Games 2022.
During the competition, participating snipers will go through three stages with ten shooting lessons. The first stage is individual competition, the second one is pair competition, and the last one is team competition.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, GS’s Deputy Chief and Head of the Organizing Panel, highlighted units’ determination and efforts in selecting and training snipers to participate in the whole military’s event.
The GS’s deputy chief asked the organizing panel to heighten their responsibility in hosting the event and relevant agencies and units to foster coordination to ensure absolute safety of personnel and equipment during the competition. General Nghia also requested the jury to make accurate, fair, and objective assessment, so as to accurately evaluate the ability of participating snipers.
The leader urged participating teams to heighten determination to obtain the highest possible results at the event, promote unity, strictly observe military discipline and competition-related regulations and pandemic prevention and control measures, and ensure absolute safety of personnel, weapons, and equipment.

General Nghia asked the service force to raise their responsibility to provide best services to participating teams, thoroughly prepare weapons and equipment for competing contents, and foster guard and patrol to ensure absolute safety for all participants during the competition.
After the opening ceremony, the first event officially took place. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong and other delegates observed and checked the working process of the organizing panel and the jury.
