Major General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Commander of Army Corps 3, and former leaders of the regiment and its affiliates participated in the event.
At the meeting, delegates reminisced about glorious traditions of the regiment since its establishment on February 27, 1947 as a regular force in safeguarding the capital city.
In the past, the regiment resiliently and bravely fought against the enemy to defend key areas in Hanoi. The unit was honored with the title “Thang Long Regiment” given by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in recognition of its feats-of-arms.
With the spirit of “Splitting Truong Son mountain range to save the country,” Regiment 48 joined other units in battles, crushing the enemy’s intention of “filling the Ben Hai River,” “heading to the North.”
The regiment excellently completed its mission in the Central Highlands Operation in March 1975. Especially, in the historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the regiment was tasked with attacking Dong Du base, destroying Division 25 of Saigon troops in the northwest of Saigon, paving the way for Army Corps 3 to advance to the inner city of Saigon, contributing to the great victory in Spring 1975, resulting in the national reunification.
Over the past time, apart from its good training, the regiment has always brought into play its traditions of “helping locals, combatting the enemy.” Its troops have assisted local people in poverty reduction and hunger elimination and life stabilization.
Addressing the event, General Tuan highlighted the glorious traditions of the heroic regiment, its troops’ efforts to overcome difficulties, promotion of solidarity strength, good training, and high sense of combat readiness.

The commander of Army Corps 3 also praised the regiment’s troops for their contribution to building a comprehensively strong unit and supporting local people in disaster relief, production development, life stabilization, thus tightening the military-civilian bonds.
