General Staff deploys missions for 2017-2018 academic year
PANO - The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on August 24 organized a conference to review the outcomes of the 2016-2017 academic year and roll out missions for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Lieutenant-General Phan Van Giang, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief-of-the-General Staff and Deputy-Minister of National Defense chaired the meeting.

In the 2016-2017 academic year, schools in the whole army actively and comprehensively renovated their education and training activities and successfully fulfilled their assigned missions with improved training quality that would meet requirements of tasks in the current context. Other achievements of the military schools included effective and improved foreign language training, wider use of IT applications in education and training, adjusted training programs, instructors’ improved expertise and knowledge of computing and foreign languages, upgraded training facilities and teaching aids, practical outcomes from applying scientific research as well as maintenance of building regularity and observing military disciplines.
In the 2017-2018 academic year, the General Staff defined 14 missions with a focus on planning the system of schools, issuing regulations on cadet and trainee management, renovating training programs to meet real requirements, improving the method of teaching and learning foreign languages and effectively investing in upgrading school facilities.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Giang congratulated schools for their accomplishments in the previous academic year and asked them to thoroughly grasp and strictly realize resolutions and directives on training of the Party, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense while improving staffers’ professionalism and combat readiness capabilities.
Those military schools were also requested to foster the contingent of instructors and education management cadres, improve troops’ health and further invest in facilities, equipment and simulation technology to meet the ongoing education and training missions of the army.
