PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, has given an interview to the Vietnam Television on the 40th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification (April 30th), also known as the Great 1975 Spring Victory.

General Ty held that the victory on April 30th 1975 is one of the most glorious hallmarks in the history of national construction and defence of Vietnamese people. It symbolizes the revolutionary heroism, wisdom and brave and iron will of the Vietnamese nation to gain national independence and freedom.

The 40th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification is an opportunity for the whole Vietnamese people to reminisce about the nation’s traditions; honor the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam People’s Army; pay tribute to those who had laid down their lives for the national reunification; and highlight the international support for Vietnam during its struggle for national salvation and reunification.

On behalf of leaders of the Minisry of National Defence, the Chief of the VPA’s General Staff thanked the Party, State, ministries, localities and the whole people for their continuous support for the development of the VPA.

The whole cadres and soldiers of VPA will do their utmost and be determined to build up a revolutionary, regular, elite and increasingly modern army, deserving to its good nature and traditions “Loyal to the Party, dedicated to the people, ready to fight any enemy and make sacrifices to the Fatherland’s independence and freedom and socialism. It will surely overcom any difficulty, accomplish any task and defeat any enemy”.

On this occasion, the Chief of the General Staff also wished the entire people to comprehensively promote the renewal process for fast and sustainable national development, and successfully implement the goal of a wealthy people and a strong, democratic, equal and civilized nation, advancing steadily towards socialism.
