During the visit, Chinh praised tireless efforts of troops and local people in fighting the fire, contributing to minimizing losses of property and lives. He urged the firefighting forces to strictly follow situational developments to prevent the fire from reoccurring.

Due to the prolonged dry hot weather, 38 forest fires broke out in localities in Military Region 4 and around 11,000 troops and hundreds of vehicles of different kinds were mobilized to extinguish the fires to protect forests and locals’ lives.

One of the serious fires in the region happened in Hong Linh commune, Nghi Xuan district. The fire broke out on June 30 in a pine forest and spread to other places due to the prolonged droughts and strong winds. Hundreds of troops were sent to the scene to fight the fire. Thanks to the quick response and efforts of participating forces, the fire was successfully controlled.

Troops make efforts to fight the fire

In Xuan An town of Nghi Xuan district, troops of the Ha Tinh provincial Military Command helped local people to isolate the fire. Senior Colonel Nguyen Tat Nhan, Political Commissar of the Ha Tinh provincial Military Command said that over the past few days, the command mobilized 200 troops and 2,000 militiamen in the district to put out the fire and evacuate locals to safer places.

Part of the forces stayed in Nghi Xuan district to observe the situation, while the rest headed to assist those in Huong Son district to control the fire in the locality.
