Exhibition honors late General Van Tien Dung’s contributions
PANO – An exhibition to honor the great contributions of late General Van Tien Dung to the Vietnamese resistance wars for national salvation and national construction and defense cause was commenced in Hanoi on April 24.
Organized by the Vietnam Military History Museum, the event was to mark the General’s 100th birthday and the 42nd anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification.
As many as 300 documents, photos, and items are organized into five theme sections. The first theme is about General Van Tien Dung’s homeland, childhood, and his first days joining revolutionary activities, while the second one presents his activities as the Head of Political Department of the Vietnamese National Army during the anti-French war (1945-1954). The third, forth, and fifth sections are titled “Political Commissar and Command of Inter-region 3”, “General Van Tien Dung in the anti-American war (1954-1975)”, and “General Van Tien Dung in the national construction and defense cause (1975-1986)”, respectively. The event also exhibits photos about the General’s daily life as well as reflecting the Party’, State, Army’ and people’s tribute to him.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Major General Nguyen Xuan Nang, the museum’s Director said that the exhibition briefly and vividly reflected the life and career of General Van Tien Dung who made great contributions to national salvation, construction, and defense cause, especially in army building. The event also contributes to educating young generations about the nation’s revolutionary traditions.
