A performance at the event |
At the honoring ceremony, Major General Thai Van Minh, Director of Department of Military Training of the General Staff, briefed delegates on the outcomes of the Vietnamese military delegation at the Army Games 2020. He said in spite of many difficulties, with activeness, creativeness, high resolve, and harmonious coordination, Vietnamese teams achieved high results at the event. Particularly, the Vietnamese tank team beat numerous competitors to win the Gold Medal in Division 2 of the Tank Biathlon event, while the Vietnamese signal team impressed other participating teams and spectators with their impressive performance and bagged a bronze medal. The engineer and search and rescue teams of the Vietnam People’s Army successfully secured bronze medals in their events. In other events, sniper, dog handler, field kitchen, military medical, and artillery teams of Vietnam also left good impressions on international friends. In addition, through artistic performances and cultural products, the Vietnamese art troupe helped popularize the images of Vietnam, its people, and military to international friends.
In his speech, General Minh also suggested further investment in training facilities, renovating weapons and technical equipment similar to the ones that will be used in competitions, and updating Army Games-related information and regulations, so as to raise the effectiveness of training for the Army Games 2021 and the years to come.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated Russia’s efforts in hosting the Army Games 2020 and the International Military-Technical Forum 2020 (Army 2020). He affirmed that these activities helped increase Russia’s prestige in multilateral military activities, strengthen friendship and understanding among participating militaries and maintain peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the rest of the world.
General Giang further said in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19, Vietnam still brought its largest number of contestants to date to the event, which affirmed its activeness and pro-activeness in joining international exchanges and cooperation activities. He stressed that joining international military events is an opportunity for Vietnamese troops to gain experience from their peers and have access to cutting-edge weapons and equipment, thus raising training quality and combat readiness capabilities and affirming the position of Vietnam in general and the Vietnam People’s Army in particular in the international arena.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Giang praised the efforts of Vietnamese teams in preparing for the Army Games 2020 and their encouraging achievements in the event. Giang emphasized that the participation of the Vietnamese teams actively contributed to strengthening friendship and defense cooperation between Vietnam and other participating countries. He also praised press agencies for disseminating Vietnamese teams’ preparations for and participation in the event.
At the event, dozens of groups and individuals were honored by the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the General Department of Politics.
