Defense ministry discusses approval and removal of officers’ titles
PANO – The Council for Approval and Removal of Officers’ Technical and Professional Titles of the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting on February 14 to review the approval and removal of working titles, ranks and grades for non-combat officers in 2018.
Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, chaired the event.
In 2018, the competent agencies of the defense ministry issued decisions to authenticate the technical and professional titles and grades for over 1,300 officers working in five sectors, including scientific research, education and training, military medicine and pharmacy, technique and technology, and society and military humanities.

The permanent body of the Council received 299 resumes, including 11 proposals for removal of working titles or grades and 288 ones for approval. Among them, 285 resumes met the criteria for approval of officers’ technical and professional titles.
During the meeting, delegates discussed and gave opinions on the criteria for approval and removal of working titles and grades in each sector, as well as casted their votes to ratify all proposed cases.
On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense, General Giang praised efforts of the relevant agencies in implementing the work, and at the same time asked them to continue completing related documents to fulfill their missions in the time to come.
