Reportedly, in 2022, the Lai Chau provincial Military Command directed its troops to implement directives and resolutions of the Central Military Commission (CMC), Ministry of National Defense (MND), Military Region 2, and the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee on military and defense work, while strictly maintaining combat readiness. They also closely teamed up with other relevant forces to grasp situation along the shared borderline. In addition, the unit ensured training work as planned, promptly conducted socio-economic development in combination with defense and security work, among others.

Meanwhile, in 2022, the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command strictly observed the MND’s and Vietnam Border Guard Command’s directives on the implementation of the Vietnam Border Guard Law. They seriously maintained combat readiness to ensure safety along the borderline, while working with local authorities to build socio-economic development programs in combination with firmly protecting the national border, to name but a few.

Addressing the meeting, General Phan Van Giang hailed the units’ achievements in 2022 and the first months of 2023, expressing his delight at the quick development of the province in recent years, and affirming the remarkable contribution of the provincial armed forces to these achievements.

The defense minister shared difficulties with the units, noting that Uncle Ho’s soldiers should overcome difficulties to promote its core role in defense and security work in the locality, contributing to the local development.

He requested the units to actively grasp local situation to be ready in any circumstances, maintain combat readiness, promote training work, and organize exercises and drills with absolute safety. They should also adhere to military discipline and regulations.
In addition to political tasks, the two units should pay attention to the building of a healthy and strong Party organization, mobilizing the entire political system and society, promoting mobilization work while helping the locals develop economy. Furthermore, the local armed forces were requested to be ready to join search and rescue missions and natural disaster prevention and control, contributing to promoting the beautiful image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the current context.

In the framework of the visit, General Phan Van Giang and the delegation planted trees in the units, offered incense in tribute to fallen soldiers in Ma Ly Pho commune (Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province), and presented gifts to troops of the Border Post of Ma Lu Thang International Border Gate under the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command.
