The 2024 Cambodian Language Competition for the Border Guard Force took place from September 5 to 6. The event aimed to assess the Cambodian B1 level language proficiency (according to Vietnam's six-level foreign language proficiency framework) of commissioned and non-commissioned officers from the border guard units along the Vietnam-Cambodia border.

The competition attracted 70 participants from the Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard Commands.

The competition consisted of both individual and team categories. In the individual category, participants were be evaluated on the four language skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. In the team category, the competitors participated in three rounds: A stage introduction, a direct question-and-answer session, and a public speaking round.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Tran Hai Binh, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, encouraged the participants to show responsibility, actively learn from others’ experience, and strive for the best results. He also urged the organizing panel to manage the competition strictly and objectively evaluate the participants' abilities. Furthermore, he expressed his hope that the competition would foster a dynamic environment for foreign language learning and enhance the language skills of the officers and soldiers serving at border guard stations.

The Cambodian Language Competition 2024 provided an opportunity for commissioned and non-commissioned officers from the border guards of provinces along the Vietnam-Cambodia border to exchange and learn from each other. It also aimed to improve the dissemination of the Party's guidelines, State's policies and laws, while promoting Vietnam's unique cultural features to international friends. Ultimately, the competition contributed to the successful fulfillment of border guard duties.

After the opening ceremony, the commissioned and non-commissioned officers began participating in the competition's activities.
