Having inspected at the Border Posts of Nam Chay and Ban Lau, as well as their checkpoints in villages of Xin Chai, San Pan, and Coc Phuong in Nam Chay commune, Muong Khuong district, General Cuong hailed troops at posts, presented gifts and encouraged them to overcome difficulties to fulfill all assigned missions.

General Cuong also had a meeting with the leadership of the Lao Cai provincial Border Guard Command. He was briefed on the unit’s implementation of the 1389 mission, border management, illegal border crossings, and COVID-19 prevention and control over the first eight months of this year.

Reportedly, the unit has addressed violations in border areas, collecting 116.4 million VND in fines. The Lao Cai provincial Border Guard Command also established 54 checkpoints and 30 teams to patrol at border gates and trails to detect and prevent illegal crossings as well as curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the event, General Cuong applauded the great efforts and achievements of the unit. He also asked them to continue working with relevant forces to follow local situations to be ready in any circumstances. In addition, the border unit should effectively implement political education among troops and handle all violations.

Furthermore, the Lao Cai provincial Border Guard should also disseminate and mobilize locals in promoting border management and crime detection while ensuring good health for troops and attaching much importance to the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control.
