Activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the fight for northern border protection
PANO – The Ha Giang provincial Veterans' Association on February 15 held a seminar to mark 40 years since the local people and armed forces started the fight to protect the Fatherland’s northern border (February 17).
At the seminar, delegates recalled the fight and exchanged with historical witnesses who directly engaged in the struggle for the Northern border protection.
The seminar aimed to educate youths about the spirit of patriotism and sense of responsibility for safeguarding the Fatherland. Representatives of the local authorities presented gifts to participating veterans.

* The Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee also held a conference to provide people with more information about the fight to protect the Northern border, recall the history, and firmly affirm the legitimate right of our military and people in the fighting for northern border protection. The conference also aimed to educate youths about the tradition of patriotism and national pride of the national construction and protection cause; express deep gratitude to people who engaged in the fight and sacrificed themselves for the cause of national defense; and further consolidate people's trust in the Party's leadership.
* Representatives of authorities, veteran's associations, mass organizations and people offered incense and flowers to the heroic martyrs, who sacrificed themselves in the northern border defense fight, at the martyrs' cemeteries in Lao Cai province. On the occasion, the provincial Veterans' Association also presented more than 700 gifts to wounded soldiers, and relatives of martyrs and national contributors, as well as organize various activities to promote information dissemination on the righteous fight of the Vietnamese armed forces and people 40 years ago.
