Vietnamese service dog training team complete competitions

At the “Dog Biathlon” stage, each couple of service dog and trainer has to pass 3,200m with two firing lines. The first firing line is shooting with a small-caliber rifle lying down from the distance of 800m. The second firing line is shooting with a small-caliber rifle in a standing position from the distance of 2,400m. In case of misses, the participants have to run additional laps (a 100m lap for each miss).

The team ready for the competition

The first Vietnamese couple of service dog and trainer finished their first stage after 14 mins 13 seconds, 61 seconds slower than the earliest couple of service dog and trainer from Russia.

At the “300m obstacle course with service dogs” competition, the Vietnamese couple of service dog and trainer finished the race after 1 minute 26 second.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Ngoc Sang, Head of the Vietnamese service dog training team, the results of this year’s  “300-meter obstacle course with service dogs” competition is better than last year.

As planned, the Vietnamese service dog training team will compete in “Protective Service” stage on August 26. It is considered a difficult stage because each participant with the service dog has to consistently perform finding an offender, holding and slurning the offender, preventing the offender from trying to escape, repelling an offender's attack from the security phase, a rear convoy, a reflection of an attack from a rear convoy, protection against attack from the frontal attack movement.
