Presenting flowers to South Sudanese women on International Women's Day

Together with gifts for each woman, the hospital gave them haircut and helped them make up. The hospital also held games to boost exchange and closeness between its female staff and local women.

At the event, Colonel Nguyen Kim Tinh, Commanding Officer of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in South Sudan, and other members of the hospital’s directorate directly presented gifts to South Sudanese women.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hang Nga, the hospital’s vice director in charge of military affairs, shared that “With simple and small deeds, we hope to help disadvantaged women in South Sudan have a significant March 8 like other ordinary women, thereby sharing and showing sympathy with them. Hopefully, those activities will help raise local people’s awareness of women’s role and position in society.”

Like previous field hospitals of Vietnam in South Sudan, the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 also conducts civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activities to support local people as their regular duties. Through these activities, the field hospital helps heighten the image of ‘blue beret” officers and spread the good image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

Lt. Col. Do Thi Hang Nga expressed her hope that in its one-year tenure, the hospital will carry out a number of CIMIC activities to encourage local people, especially women, to overcome difficulties and rise up.

In one week starting March 1, Vietnamese female medical staff wear the Ao dai while giving examination and treatment for patients.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the hospital has launched a week of Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress). In particular, from March 1 to 8, Vietnamese female peacekeepers will wear the Ao dai for protocol activities, and while giving examination and treatment for patients.

The week aims to honor the beauty of the Ao dai and introduce Vietnamese cultural values to international friends.
