Speaking at the talk, Headmaster of Guangxi Normal University Sun Jieyuan expressed his delight at the visit of the Vietnam’s MND high-ranking delegation, underlining that the school has always attached much importance to international cooperation. Particularly, the university has set up relations with 350 universities around the world, created conditions for cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries. In 2018, the university established the Vietnam Research Institute.

For his part, Senior Colonel Tran Huu Dung, Deputy Head of the Military Youth Advisory Board of Vietnam’s General Department of Political Affairs, affirmed that the Vietnamese young generation in general and young officers of the Vietnam People’s Army in particular always bear in mind the valuable support of the Party, State, military and people of China. Currently, many young Vietnamese are studying and working in China, including some Vietnamese students studying at Guangxi Normal University, contributing to promoting the special friendship between the two countries’ people.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien shared that he had been to China many times; however, this visit left a very deep impression on him. The delegation visited many historical relic sites related to the Vietnamese Revolution in Guangxi, including Ho Chi Minh Exhibition Hall and Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall; Nan Xishan Hospital, etc. Each place bears strong connection between the two countries throughout the struggle for liberation and national independence of each nation.

Regarding the talk, the Vietnamese defense leader recalled many touching stories about the teacher-student relationship, as well as the sentiment and support of Chinese officials and people toward Vietnamese people. Among them, Guangxi Normal University made extremely important contribution, with specific deeds, to cultivate the Vietnam-China relations.

Gen. Chien affirmed that the Party, Government, military and people of Vietnam always remember the wholehearted support of the Party, Government, military and people of China in the past struggle for national liberation and independence and in the current cause of socialism building and national development.

He also underscored Vietnam’s consistent viewpoint on defining promoting friendly and cooperative relations with China an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy. More than ever, both sides need a peaceful and stable environment to serve the strategic development goals of each country. Therefore, he hoped that Guangxi Normal University will continue to promote its tradition and make more contribution to the Vietnam-China relations.

Attending the talk, delegates listened to touching stories about the traditional friendship, solidarity and the close-knit ties between the two parties, countries and peoples. Opinions at the event all affirmed that the Vietnam-China friendship is a valuable asset of the two nations that need to be preserved and nurtured.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation visited Vietnam School Memorial Hall where many generations of Vietnamese students studied during wartime.
