The meeting was part of the ongoing visit of the Vietnamese delegation to historical relic sites attached to the Vietnamese Revolution at Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong province, China, from October 27 to 31 at the invitation of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense of China.

At the event, Gen. Chien emphasized that meaningful activities of the Vietnamese MND delegation in China demonstrated that Vietnam consistently views China a top priority in its foreign policy and is willing to strengthen bilateral defense ties in a more intensive, practical and effective manner to deserve to be an important pillar in the two countries’ relations.

The Vietnamese defense leader also said that Vietnam always treasures and bears in mind the wholehearted assistance that the Party, government, military and people of China have given to the country in the past struggles for national independence and current socialism building and national development cause.

According to Gen. Chien, the visit served as an opportunity for the two sides to review bilateral defense cooperation in the past, and develop approaches to enhance the relations between the two militaries in the time to come. He also underlined the two sides’ full and consistent implementation of the common perceptions reached by the two parties and states’ senior leaders.

Given that Guangxi is bordering many provinces of Vietnam, Gen. Zhuang said that the locality has always actively engaged in common activities with the Vietnam People’s Army, such as the Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange. He highlighted that the visit to Guangxi showed token of gratitude to older generations of revolutionaries, and was a practical activity to cultivate the two countries’ friendship and close and substantive cooperation between the two militaries.

Gen. Chien spoke highly of the two countries’ time-honored relationship and stressed the confirmation of the two parties and states’ senior leaders of continuing to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and promote the building of a Vietnam-China Community with a shared future that carries strategic significance in accordance with “six major goals.”

On the occasion, Gen. Chien informed the host about the good outcomes of the official visit to Vietnam from October 24-26 by Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China Senior Lieutenant General Zhang Youxia, during which the two sides agreed to enhance bilateral defense cooperation, especially the ties between the two border protection forces.

Earlier the same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited Ho Chi Minh Exhibition Hall in Longzhou district, Chongzuo city, Guangxi province. Introduced to hundreds of showcased exhibits, Gen. Chien expressed his emotion at the collection, good preservation of the images and objects related to President Ho Chi Minh’s activities in Guangxi. The Vietnamese general emphasized that relics closely related to President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese Revolution are an invaluable asset of the Vietnam-China friendship.

Also on October 27, the Vietnamese delegation visited Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall in Longzhou district and Guangxi General Station of Immigration Inspection.
