Captain Pham Trung Kien, a member of the team, said having arrived in the base, the Vietnamese team was warmly welcomed by the host with a ceremony featuring the Mongolian people’s customs. According to the customs of the local people, Senior Colonel Li Fu, Political Commissar of the Korla Military Training Base presented a ceremonial silk patch and invited a glass of horse milk wine to the head delegate.

After a solemn Vietnamese national flag hoisting ceremony and national anthem singing, the Chinese side presented insignia to the Vietnamese counterparts. In response to the host’s warm welcome, Vietnamese head delegate, Senior Colonel Ngo Van Dinh expressed his joy and willingness to meet and exchange experience with the host and other participating delegations from different countries.

Having settled down, Vietnamese chemical officers set up a training plan to adapt to the harsh weather condition of the subtropical desert climate and terrain of Korla Base at the height of 7,000m above the sea level. Together with basic physical exercises, the Vietnamese team took advantage of the host country’s facilities to promote their professional expertise. The host country also created favorable conditions for the Vietnamese team members to access protective equipment and respiratory masks which will be used during the games.

Captain Kien said all members of the team have high determination to achieve the best results at the upcoming event. They thoroughly grasped and seriously exercised the Vietnam People’s Army’s regulations on defense external relations and the Korla Military Base’s regulations.

To ensure the success of the event in the base, the host country sent 140 professional chefs to prepare meals for the participating teams from the 12 countries.

The Army Games 2019, co-held by the Russian Defense Ministry and nine other militaries, will start from August 3 with the participation of 105 teams from 32 countries. This year, the 20-member chemical team of Vietnam will compete with their rivals from Russia, Armenia, Iran, Egypt and China in “Reconnaissance Teams Implement "Safe Environment "Missions”” category.
