An overview of the conference |
During the meeting, the two sides focused on analyzing, discussing, and evaluating the implementation of cooperation activities since 2025. Over the past time, MR5 and MR1 have effectively maintained information-sharing mechanisms and coordinated closely in monitoring developments along the border. They have strengthened joint patrols and border control activities, contributing to promptly preventing violations and helping maintain political security, social order, and public safety in border areas.
Both sides have continuously promoted information and education activities for officers, soldiers, and local people on the significance and importance of the relationship of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability” between Vietnam and Cambodia. They have also maintained exchanges of delegations and mutual visits to extend greetings and congratulations on national holidays, traditional festivals, and major political events of the two countries and militaries.

The coordination in the search, recovery, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia has continued to be carried out effectively. In addition, local authorities and military units of both sides have actively supported Vietnamese and Cambodian citizens living, studying, and working in border areas in complying with the laws of their respective countries.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Le Ngoc Hai affirmed that the agreements reached at the 25th joint conference had been implemented in a strict and effective manner by both sides, contributing to strengthening mutual trust and enhancing solidarity and understanding between the armed forces and peoples of the two countries. He also emphasized that amidst the increasingly complex developments in the regional and global situation, the two sides should further strengthen coordination in information exchange, border management and protection, combating crime and hostile activities, and pro-actively addressing non-traditional security challenges, natural disasters, diseases, and search-and-rescue operations.

Looking ahead, MR5 and MR1 agreed to continue enhancing education and communication efforts on the tradition of Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and solidarity; maintain information-sharing mechanisms and cooperation in border management and protection; support border demarcation and marker planting activities; coordinate in the search and repatriation of fallen soldiers’ remains; promote exchanges and delegation visits, medical examinations and treatment, medicine distribution, and assistance to people in border areas; and remain ready to cooperate in disaster relief and rescue operations when natural disasters or emergencies occur.

The two sides agreed that the 27th joint conference will be held in Cambodia in 2027.
