Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau noted that the bilateral defense cooperation has achieved substantive results across various fields. Notable activities include delegation exchanges, training, friendship exchanges and twinning, education and dissemination on bilateral relations, as well as the search, collection, and repatriation of martyrs’ remains.

For his part, General Mam Sophat briefed the host on the outcomes of his talks held earlier that day with his Vietnamese counterpart Major General Nguyen Viet Dung. The Cambodian general emphasized that the close coordination between the two legal affairs departments contributes to further deepening the bilateral defense ties.

Valuing the dialogue mechanism and underscoring the vital role of the military legal sector, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau suggested that in the coming time, the two departments should further share information, conduct specialized training, and effectively make recommendations to leaders of both defense ministries on military legal affairs; affirming that the Vietnamese side always supports and creates favorable conditions for both sides to further deepen cooperation.

Views of the talks

Earlier, Major General Nguyen Viet Dung held talks with General Mam Sophat. The two sides exchanged information on the development of military and national defense legal normative documents, as well as on the development of laws related to overcoming the consequences of post-war bombs, mines and unexploded ordnance in each country.

They highly appreciated the cooperation between the two Departments of Legal Affairs of the two Ministries of National Defense over the past time, discussed several areas of cooperation for the coming period, and expressed hope that the cooperative relations between the two agencies would continue to develop on the basis of promoting the achieved results.
