At Ream Naval Base, Commander of Ream Naval Base Vice Admiral Mey Dina welcomed the delegation and highlighted the close and effective cooperation between the two navies.
He noted that personnel from Ream Naval Base of the Royal Cambodian Navy have worked closely with Vietnam's Naval Region 5 in implementing joint patrol regulations, maintaining communication channels, and promptly addressing issues arising at sea. He expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen the two countries’ traditional friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding.

During a visit to the Royal Cambodian Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Cheung Chhay, Director of the Academy, thanked the Vietnam People’s Navy for supporting Cambodian cadets studying at the Vietnam Naval Academy. He also expressed hope that the two naval academies would continue expanding cooperation in professional exchanges, personnel training, logistics, and technical support.
Sr. Capt. Lai Hong Dong thanked Vice Admiral Mey Dina and Rear Admiral Cheung Chhay for their warm reception. He emphasized that cooperation between the armed forces of Vietnam and Cambodia, particularly between their navies, has continued to grow alongside the development of the two countries’ traditional friendship. Naval leaders from both sides have maintained regular exchanges, visits, and other cooperation mechanisms.

An overview of the meeting |
Since signing the Joint Patrol Coordination Agreement in 2005, the two navies have conducted numerous joint patrols to help maintain security and order in the Vietnam - Cambodia historic waters, support fishermen from both countries, and improve coordination in responding to non-traditional security challenges.
The Vietnam People’s Navy has also provided support for the Royal Cambodian Navy in areas including personnel training, infrastructure development, logistics, technical assistance, and equipment.

Both sides agreed that defense cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, particularly naval cooperation, has been effectively implemented across multiple fields, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region while further strengthening solidarity, good-neighborly relations, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
