Vietnamese border troops conduct joint patrol with Lao counterparts
PANO - Thanh Luong Border Post of the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command of Vietnam, in coordination with Border Company 116 under Laos’ Phongsaly provincial Military Command, conducted a joint patrol on December 11.
Senior Captain Le Tien Quang, Second-in- Command Officer of Thanh Luong Border Post and Major Khamsome Insomman, Head of Border Company 116, oversaw each side’s force in the patrol.

During the patrol, both sides inspected the borderline, national border markers on the shared borderline, from No.103 to 104.
The patrol was conducted as regulated and scheduled. They also carefully inspected the borderline and national border markers.
Both sides also worked together to disseminate laws so as to raise public awareness of all regulations about border management and protection, especially illegal border crossings and all kinds of crime.

They both agreed to boost patrols at national border markers in order to prevent illegal border crossings, wild animal hunting, and crimes.
The joint patrol was in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding of the 16th regular talks between the Dien Bien and Son La provincial Border Guard Commands (Vietnam) and the Phongsaly provincial Military Command of Laos, signed on November 26, 2024 in Son La province.
