Vietnamese blue-beret doctors bring green to South Sudan
PANO - The youth union organization of the Level-2 Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 2 of Vietnam serving in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) organized a tree-planting program and a football-volleyball tournament from May 30 to June 1.
Under the tree-planting movement, the youth union members planted a number of shade trees in the compound and around the hospital to create a green space. According to the hospital’s director Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Hien, it is hard for a tree to grow in a temperature of over 40 Celsius degrees and it is even harder for them to grow green in such a climate. However, with the great efforts of the hospital’s staff since the staff arrived six months ago, the hospital has transformed the bare ground into a green oasis with vegetables, flowers and shade trees.
