Vietnamese and Chinese teams conduct joint patrol
PANO - The Lao Cai provincial Border Guard Command and the Border Management Force of China’s Honghe district has conducted a joint patrol along the shared borderline.

Accordingly, the Chinese force joined the Vietnamese side to patrol the areas from Landmarks No.87 to No.167 in Bat Xat, Bao Thang, and Muong Khuong districts and Lao Cai city, Vietnam. The two forces also distributed more than 2,000 leaflets to and organized law education courses for local residents.
To maintain good social order and security in border areas during the Lunar New Year Festival 2020, the two sides agreed to further conduct joint patrols and promote crime fight. Accordingly, the Vietnamese patrol team will send its four liaison officers to join the Chinese side to conduct a patrol, and vice versa.
Similarly, on December 20, Vietnam’s Lao Cai provincial Border Guard Command and China’s Hekou Border Guard Battalion conducted a joint patrol along the shared borderline. They also helped local people learn laws on border and border gates.
After the patrol, the two teams reviewed the results of the joint patrol in 2019, showing that people in border areas strictly exercised the Agreement on the Border Management Regulations.
The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding, in which they agreed to continue conducting joint patrols in 2020, foster law dissemination and education, and promote fight against smuggling and illegal immigration. They will also promote cooperation mechanisms while dealing with incidents in border areas in a timely manner.
