Vietnamese and Cambodian military units expand ties
PANO - The Military Command of Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Dak Lak and the military sub-region of Cambodia’s Mondulkiri province held the 8th round of talks on military work.
During the talks in Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak), the two sides highlighted their effective advice to local party committees and authorities to direct the performance of military external service.
This year, they completed contents reached at the 7th round of talks and successfully coordinated in ensuring safety and security during border demarcation and marker planting in line with the two governments’ policies. They also effectively fought hostile forces’ acts of sabotage while searching and gathering numerous sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops and experts who sacrificed their lives in Mondulkiri province during the war.
Attentively, the armed forces of Dak Lak province joined missions from the Military Region 5 Command to provide free health checkups and health counselling for over 970 Cambodian people, present 300 gifts to poor Cambodians, and give financial assistance to five Cambodian households facing housing difficulties. These activities cost nearly VND 250 million. Moreover, the Vietnamese side also financed the Cambodian side’s Company to build a VND 1.5 billion barracks.
Next year, the two sides will promote information dissemination and education on the two countries’ policies, cooperation ties, traditional relationship for the armed forces and people in the two provinces. They will continue conducting joint patrols and implementing meaningful activities with the aim of tightening the close ties between troops and people in border areas.
Earlier, the two sides paid homage to fallen troops at the Dak Lak provincial War Martyrs’ Cemetery, of whom many volunteer troops and experts had bravely sacrificed while serving noble international obligation in Cambodia.
