An overview of the talks

Over the past two years, the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two units have further thrived. The two provinces’ border protection forces have closely worked together and regularly exchanged information to find ways to deal with issues occurring in border areas in a timely and effective manner.

The two sides have coordinated in ensuring security and safety for delegations performing tasks of border demarcation and marker planting in two provinces and preventing hostile forces’ plots and tricks.

During the talks, the two sides highly valued cooperation results over the past time, especially in supporting each other to cope with the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent illegal border entry and exit. Particularly, the Dak Lak provincial Military Command provided goods, medical supplies and equipment, and necessities to the Cambodian border protection force.

In the time to come, the two units agreed to effectively carry out the cooperation agreement signed at the talks. They also consented to regularly exchange information to maintain political security and public order, prevent cross-border crimes, and actualize a protocol on search and rescue in land border areas of the two countries.

In addition, both sides will coordinate in handling issues occurring in border areas in line with treaties and agreements inked by the two governments while facilitating the demarcation and marker planting and joint patrols.

The two units will promote friendship exchanges, law dissemination and education among local people living along the shared borderline.
