At the reception, on behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, General Vinh thanked the UK Defense Ministry for their effective assistance to Vietnam in deploying a level-two field hospital to the UN Mission in South Sudan. He especially appreciated the English language training for Vietnamese UN peacekeepers. In addition, the host praised the recently completed term of office by UK defense attaché Colonel David Houghton, which has contributed to developing the bilateral defense ties and bringing practical benefits to the two militaries.
Congratulating Colonel Beatrix V.H. Walcot on her appointment as the new UK defense attaché to Vietnam, General Vinh hoped that she will make active contributions to expanding the Vietnam-UK bilateral defense cooperation, particularly in delegation exchanges at all levels, improving mutual understanding and boosting collaboration in other fields such as defense industry, officers' training and UN peacekeeping operations.
For their parts, the two UK officers pledged to try their best to strengthen the Vietnam-UK defense relations in the time to come.
